Cron Jobs, But for Everyone

Rowbird is a self-hosted service that runs your SQL queries on a schedule and delivers the results wherever your team already reads things—email, Slack, Telegram, Discord, webhooks or S3—as tables, CSV, Excel or PDF. It supports PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, SQL Server and SQLite, with TLS and SSH tunnels, plus a visual cron builder with time-zone handling and alert conditions.

The pitch is aimed squarely at teams that need recurring reports or data alerts without standing up a full BI platform. Maker Fabio says the goal was to stop engineering and analytics teams from burning time on adjustments and cron setup—work he thinks marketing teams could just as easily handle themselves if the tool got out of the way.

A Strong Week, Mostly Organic

Rowbird finished with 917 claps in a round of 118 products that together pulled in 4,518 claps from 18 distinct clappers. That's a big share of a small, engaged crowd backing one launch. As Fabio put it in his own words, he promoted it across various channels, but the vast majority of support came from the visitors themselves—which he reads as a sign the project is heading in the right direction.

The build itself pushed him outside familiar territory. His usual stack is Node and PHP, but he built Rowbird entirely in Go, calling that the hardest part of the whole effort.

What Reviewers Noticed

Rowbird picked up a perfect average rating across its two reviews. Tom called it super useful and said he'd be showing it to his SRE team—a small but telling nod to the kind of recurring-report, alert-the-right-channel problem Rowbird is built to solve.

Open Source, Looking for Hands

Fabio's next goal isn't a roadmap of features so much as reach: he wants the project to gain more recognition and GitHub stars, help more people, and pick up contributions from others who enjoy working on open source.

“I promoted it across various channels, but the vast majority of support came from the visitors themselves, which reinforces that the project is heading in the right direction.”

The rest of the podium

Rowbird's win came alongside strong showings from SubmitMyStartup, which took second with 837 claps for its MCP server and planner that helps founders find where to submit their startups, and Novastart, which placed third with 561 claps for its infinite-canvas workspace for apps, files, people, and AI agents. All three came out of the same 18-person clapper pool backing 118 launches this week—no shortcuts, just people choosing what they liked.}}
