A game that waits for bad news
Nines is a small web arcade with one rule: it stays shut until something breaks. The tool watches official status pages for GitHub, GitLab, Cloudflare, OpenAI, Anthropic, Cursor, npm, and Slack, and only when one of them reports a real outage does the arcade unlock so people can play Breach and chase a spot on the board. Between outages, the site just collects emails at nonines.dev/ping for whenever it opens next.
Maker Gnyani built it around a familiar moment: when a big dev tool goes down, timelines fill with status-page screenshots. Nines, as the maker puts it, turns that moment into a short arcade unlock instead of just another screenshot to scroll past.
Mostly closed, by design
Gnyani says the hardest part of building Nines wasn't the game, it was the restraint: keeping the unlock honest means the arcade has to stay locked most of the time, with no shortcuts to make it feel more active than it is. That discipline paid off with the community this week, where Nines pulled 525 claps from 16 distinct clappers, the strongest showing among 35 products competing for a combined 1,943 claps.

Gnyani's plan is simple: keep watching the status pages, keep growing the notify list, and keep listings free. No expansion promises, no new features teased, just the same honest-unlock idea running a bit longer.

Second place went to BoastIndex, a tool that alerts you when important pages drop out of Google, with 292 claps, and third to HazCheckIn, an online guest check-in tool for hotels and vacation rentals, with 289. All three earned their spot the same way every ClapStorm winner does: one clap at a time, from people who showed up and meant it.
