An assistant that makes the call for you
Callio is built around a small, familiar annoyance: not knowing if something is in stock, how long a wait will be, or whether a business can actually help, without picking up the phone yourself. You find a business in Callio or share one from Google Maps, tell it what you need, and Callio places the call. When it's done, you get a summary and the full transcript instead of a wasted trip or an awkward conversation.
Maker Canzhen Zheng built it out of a shared dislike of phone calls. As Zheng puts it, even a simple call can take a lot of energy, and Callio was made both for the team and for anyone who feels the same way about picking up the phone.
A crowded week, a clear lead
Callio finished the week with 1,481 claps in a round of 37 products that together drew 3,239 claps from 19 distinct clappers. That's a real spread across a lot of launches, and Callio pulled well ahead of the field on the strength of that backing alone.
The work behind the product wasn't glamorous. According to Zheng, the hardest part was getting the AI through IVR phone menus and long hold times, the very systems businesses set up to spend less time on the phone in the first place.
What's next for Callio
Zheng says the team is adding scheduled calls next, along with better handling for when a call doesn't pan out, like surfacing nearby alternatives instead of a dead end. Zheng also says user feedback will help shape what gets built after that, an open invitation rather than a fixed roadmap.
“Need to know what's in stock, how long the wait is, or if a business can help? Online answers aren't always reliable. Unlike traditional tools, Callio calls the business for you, skipping the process to get answers directly and avoid wasted trips and the mental effort of calling.”
